Regional Director

As the Regional Director at Athena Care Homes, you will be responsible for embedding the Athena culture, empowering our Home Managers, and delivering "authentic care" to our residents and their families.

About the role:
We’re looking for a commercially astute, values-driven Regional Director to lead our 7 care homes all around East Anglia. You’ll ensure outstanding operational, clinical, and financial performance while inspiring our Home Managers to deliver “authentic care” that exceeds regulatory and commercial standards. This is a pivotal role for a strategic yet hands-on leader who can champion Athena’s culture and drive exceptional care and experience across the region.

Salary:
Competitive salary plus car allowance.

Shift Pattern:
37.5 hours per week, across Monday to Friday, whilst also providing on-call support on a rota basis.

Location:
Regional – travelling to all 7 care home locations around East Anglia (Peterborough, Kings Lynn, Cambridge, Ipswich)

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow the region — take full accountability for financial performance, occupancy growth (with a 50% private mix target), and the seamless integration of new homes.
  • Drive operational excellence — deliver efficiency, consistency, and outstanding performance across all care homes.
  • Champion quality and compliance — ensure every home achieves the highest CQC ratings and delivers safe, authentic, person-centred care.
  • Inspire and develop people — mentor and empower Home Managers to lead high-performing teams that live Athena’s values.
  • Build strong partnerships — nurture relationships with local authorities, families, and communities to create vibrant, welcoming homes.

Training, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven multi-site leader with at least 5 years’ experience at Area or Regional level in UK care or healthcare, with full P&L accountability.
  • Expert knowledge of CQC regulations and quality standards within the care sector.
  • Inspirational people leader skilled in coaching Home Managers and fostering a culture of hospitality, accountability, and respect.
  • Commercially astute strategist able to interpret financials, optimise occupancy and funding mix, and deliver sustainable growth through people.
  • Values-driven communicator with a passion for “authentic care” and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships with empathy and professionalism.
